Chapter of the Year Guidelines and Application


To qualify for the CHAPTER OF THE YEAR award your project(s) must have taken place during calendar year 2008. The project(s) may be a continuing one, but some major goals must have been accomplished during the above period.

Your entry should include a description of your Chapter's project(s) and information on how the goals of the project(s) were met. Tell us your story in pictures, correspondence, thank-you letters, newspaper clippings or any other form. Remember--the entry does not need to be complicated, but the committee can only base the final selection of CHAPTER OF THE YEAR on the material you provide!!

The following is not a form to be completed and returned, but a set of guidelines to help you prepare your entry. We suggest that you include:

  1. Chapter Name
  2. Location of the Chapter (City and State)
  3. Number of Chapter Members
  4. Explanation of your project(s)
  5. Explanation of your project(s)
  6. What initiated this project(s)
  7. Goals of the project(s)
  8. What your Chapter did, and dates of the project(s)
  9. Is(are) the project(s) a continuing one, and if so, what are future plans and goals
  10. If funds were required for the project(s), how they were raised
  11. Try to include pictures of your chapter members WORKING ON YOUR PROJECT, and any correspondence pertaining to your project(s)--thank-you notes, newspaper clippings, etc. Remember your camp outs and pot-lucks are not what is important----------YOUR PROJECTS ARE!!
  12. Make sure your entry is received at Headquarters no later than December 31.
