Chapter Chatter

DATE : May 2010

To catch up with our outings in 2009 the Mavericks visited the following:

August found 14 rigs visiting Sugar Barge Resort at Bethel Island. One highlight of the camp out was an adult version of Jingi. One member made a game for us out of 2x4s. When they fell you had to get your toes out of the way.

September we visited French Camp RV Park in Manteca. There were 17 rigs attending. Highlights were visiting the bass Pro Shop and playing an adult version of clue with members in costume.

Halloween was the theme for our October camp out at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in Plymouth. There were 12 rigs with almost everybody in costume. There was a parade through the park and then to the club house for fun. The new Red Hawk casino and Apple Hill were visited.

In November 17 rigs went to Betabel RV Park in San Juan Bautista. Instead of turkey the wagon master tried something different all members brought “comfort food”.

Our Holiday luncheon in December was at Nicks in Rockaway Beach in Pacifica. As in the past we invite former members to attend. We had 40 people at the luncheon.

February 2010 started with a camp out at Maple Leaf RV Park in Morgan Hill with 19 rigs attending. We noted the passing of Bill Kiel a former member of the club.

In March we were at the Gilroy Garlic USA RV Park in Gilroy. The Helm’s were the wagon masters and provided corned beef and cabbage for Saturday night’s meal. Clarence Moklin the last of the clubs founding members passed away at 92. Jill Scopazzi the wife of our president passed away after a long illness.

April was the KOA in Petaluma with 12 rigs attending. Highlight included oysters fresh from Tomales bay barbequed and fresh.

We welcomed four new members in 2009 and a new member Gillian Lucier at our April 2010 outing. We camp anywhere from Petaluma to Paso Robles. The wagon master position is rotated every month to allow everyone a chance to run an outing. Many different games are played at every camp out and a lot of fun and good food is had by all.
