The June Campout started out with the temperature over 100 at the Wine Country RV Resort in Paso Robles. Fifteen rigs were present with many coming early to tour the area. Since it was too hot to cook the group went to the Crooked Kilt for Thursday dinner. During our stay some of the group went to Hearst Castle, some to the Antique Car Show in Pismo beach, most of the group went to the Pasolivo olive oil tour. Hosts for the outing were Lois and Dave Krueger who provided Saturday morning breakfast. It included orange juice, pancakes, sausage and a big watermelon fruit bowl. Coals were lit for the Saturday night barbeque of hamburgers and hot dogs.

 

July’s campout at Betabel RV Resort in San Juan Bautista had 14 rigs attending. On the way to the camp ground there were stops at Costco and Wal-Mart. Thursday night’s dinner had a group going to Famous Dave’s in Gilroy for ribs and the rest to Jardines in San Juan Bautista for Mexican food. Friday some went to Alpine RV to see a new gas pusher and then on to Camping World. Our hosts were Danielle McMahon with help from the Silva family. Saturday morning a fire was started at 7:00AM to get hot coals for breakfast on a stick In addition, we had eggs, sausage, orange juice, hot cinnamon buns, cherries, blueberries, strawberries and home made apricot and plum jam. Saturday’s project was for Project Linus. Our group made 25 blankets by cutting and knotting the fleece material. Project Linus labels were sewed on and they were ready to go. Dolores Wright a club member is the Coordinator for the San Jose, CA Chapter Project Linus. Saturday night dinner was a Taco bar with all the fixings.  The pool got some use as did the Bocce ball court.

 

In August we returned to Sugar Barge RV Park on Bethel Island with 14 rigs. There was fishing from the pier and George McElvain and Fred Goodwin brought their boats over and members went for rides and more fishing. Matt and Georgia Pauly arrived in a new motor home and 

champagne for all. A large group went to the Sugar Barge restaurant for Thursday night dinner. Matt and Georgia Pauly were our wagon masters and they provided a Saturday morning breakfast of fresh fruit, orange juice, bacon, big muffins and coffee cakes and they provided pulled pork for our dinner. The pool got a lot of use.

 

French Camp RV resort was our September camp out with 14 rigs attending. Again 15 Bamers found a place to go to dinner on Thursday. It was a restaurant called Angelinas in Stockton. Many members went to play at golf. Friday night hors d’ ouvres were followed by ice cream Sundays and a cake provided by the park. Saturday morning our hosts Carmen and Jeanie Mini provided breakfast burritos with Mike Herrier bringing his collection of hot sauces. We also had orange juice, sweet rolls and a hot salad. A group went over to the Delicato winery for tasting.  Blongo Ball was set up and played. Barbequed tri-tip was the Saturday night dinner.
 

With many members on the road the October camp out at Far Horizons 49er Village only had 7 rigs. Members did a lot of wine tasting, visited the Jackson Rancheria casino, went to the Western Days celebration in Jackson and went to Apple Hill for apples. Lena and Uwe Schmalenbach were our hosts for the weekend. They provided orange juice, rolls, a hot Canadian bacon strata and coffee for breakfast. Saturday night they provided lasagna with members providing the salads, garlic bread, wine cake and brownies. The pool and indoor hot tub got a lot of use over the weekend.

 

The new Coyote Valley RV and Golf resort in Morgan Hill was our November location. For the first time this year all 18 members were present. Thursday night the barbeque was lit and members cooked their own dinner. John and Jill Scopazzi were our hosts for the camp out. They provided French toast, home made jams and breads with members bringing fruit bowls for breakfast Saturday morning. Members went wine tasting and to the outlets, Camping World, Costco and Wal-Mart. Activities included the pool, hot tub and horse shoes. John and Jill provided a turkey dinner with members bringing side dishes. Pumpkin and pecan pie were dessert. 

 

Games are played at all the campouts. They include hand and foot, 99, garbage, dominos, phase 10 and cribbage.

 

We do not camp in December instead we have a luncheon. It was held at Smalley’s Round up in Salinas. We had a nice turn out with 37 people attending. Our hosts were Lisa, Scott, Chris and Laura Silva. Tables were decorated and each member received a cup with a group picture of the club’s 35th anniversary on the side. The Ribs, Salmon and Rib Eye Steaks were filling. Our President Jon Kalsbeek was given a bottle of Chivas Regal in appreciation of his hard work this year.
